You will hear the Loomis is one of the best small towns in California! The Town of Loomis is a quaint, family-oriented community. Established in 1850 and incorporated in 1984, Loomis retains its rural character and charm with its large residential lots and custom homes, an old-fashioned downtown, and woodlands with natural streams and rolling hillsides. Loomis is located along Interstate 80 in Placer County. Nestled in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada, Loomis, Penryn, and Newcastle offer a lifestyle reminiscent of a friendly, old-fashioned community.

While South Placer County is one of the fastest-growing areas in the state, Loomis and the surrounding area has been able to maintain its rural atmosphere and keep growth to a minimum.

Loomis has excellent schools, a library, churches, youth activities, challenging golf courses, and many trails for biking and hiking. The downtown area offers food venues ranging from fine dining to sandwiches, while the local businesses offer a unique shopping experience. Some of the well known hot spots in Loomis included High-Hand Nursery, The Flower Farm, Folsom Lake, and numerous wineries.

The population was 6,430 as by the US Census at the 2010 Census. It shares borders with the city of Rocklin and the Census-Designated Places Penryn and Granite Bay. The Median home price is $624,000. Loomis is known for bordering part of Folsom Lake and provides large luxury estates such as Eden Roc, Clos Du Lac, Montserrat, and Cambridge Estates.

The public schools in Loomis are highly rated with Del Oro high school leading the way in popularity. Del Oro is known for football and performing arts.
